Position Description

This full-time, salaried position directs all services related to adoption for Catholic Charities.

Key Tasks

Pray daily for the needs of the poor, especially through the sacrifice of the Mass, morning prayer, and at adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
Overall planning, preparation and implementation of adoption services and foster care
Establishes and maintains ongoing professional relationships with clients and community
Manages adoption staff and volunteers
Provides adoption related counseling and referrals
Intake, assessment and referral of all Adoption Services clients, birth parents, adoptive parents and those in the adoption triad
Collaborations with attorneys and courthouse
Educates about legal aspects, emotional and psychological of adoption for birth parents and adoptive families
Schedules, conducts, assigns and reviews all aspects of the Adoption Home Study and Post Placement Supervision Reports
Conducts or supervises all aspects of the Foster Care Home Study and Program
Establishes and maintains family portfolios
Supervises the creation, updating and managing of all records related to adoption and foster care
Prepares for bi-annual review of Adoption Services as a child placing agency with the Department of Human Services
Assists with marketing and public relations
Maintains regular communications with all area Catholic parishes and general community regarding adoption and pro-life issues
Maintain professional involvement with professional organizations such as the Adoption Coalition of Oklahoma, etc.
Search and reunion for members of the adoption triad, including education and counseling
Meet with residents regarding adoption
Duties as assigned

Key Skills

Able to articulate Catholic teaching with a commitment to its application in the job function
Master’s degree in Social Work or related field; Licensed preferred
Experience in adoption and child placement activities (at least 3 years of experience)
Complete and maintain the legal requirements of the Adoption Home Study course
Supervision of volunteers, staff, relationship management and interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Problem solving and decision making abilities
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities and meet deadlines
Understands Oklahoma Adoption Code
PC literate with PowerPoint, Word, Excel
